How used fishing trawls save lives in Ukraine

The trawls are stretched over heavily trafficked areas and catch drones before they hit their targets and detonate. It is an extremely simple way to save human lives, using fishing trawls that would otherwise have been discarded. This makes it a true win-win situation that saves lives in Ukraine. It makes very good sense – both for the ports that have used trawls lying around for disposal, because they are removed, and of course because the trawls gain a new and life-saving function in Ukraine.

Help Carl Futtrup save lives in Ukraine

Organizing and transporting fishing trawls to Ukraine involves major costs. Therefore, any financial support is welcome and necessary to maintain the volume of transports required to meet the enormous need for protection against drones in Ukraine.

100% transparency

Carl Futtrup organizes, transports, and delivers the trawls to Ukraine. By donating an amount to Carl Futtrup, you support a humanitarian program with 100% transparency about how the money is used, so you know you are helping to make a real difference. You are guaranteed that your money goes toward saving lives and not toward high salaries or a large organization.

Carl Futtrup’s transports of fishing trawls are driven by heart, commitment, and idealism, and he personally organizes every single transport. This ensures full transparency throughout the entire process – from organization to delivery in Ukraine. If desired, organization, transport, and delivery can be documented.

By setting up trawls over exposed areas and roads, the risk of drones costing lives in Ukraine is reduced.

Carl Futtrup – from thought to action

When the war broke out, Carl found it difficult simply to sit back and watch the many Ukrainian refugees streaming out of the country. He therefore became part of a group of three people who began helping refugees get to Denmark and onward into the municipalities.

“We organized buses and drove down ourselves to pick them up. In that way, I have helped bring 500–600 refugees to Denmark,” he says. When the state got up to speed and began taking over, he found it difficult to let go of the work. He therefore started collecting humanitarian aid, which he sent to Ukraine – both large and small. “I source the nets and organize the transport. But for example, I have also sent two dental clinics down there,” he says.

A fortunate coincidence that saves lives

Carl received an inquiry from Ukraine about supplying fishing trawls, which only made sense after a more detailed explanation. The trawls can be used as protection against drones by being stretched over areas typically frequented by many people – and who could be better suited to help procure trawls than Carl Futtrup, who grew up in Glyngøre and is a former fisherman.

Philanthropic Organization Carl Futtrup

Customs and Tax named Carl’s organization during a process involving import and export, when Customs and Tax wrote to Carl Futtrup: “Carl Futtrup can, as a person, be regarded as a philanthropic organization, as the purpose of your import does not aim at financial gain but is carried out for charitable purposes.”

Carl Futtrup took that wording to heart, and thus the name Philanthrop Carl Futtrup was born.
